Happy Birthday to Me! :)

It’s my birthday. Praise the Lord!

I woke up at 5 AM today. I prayed and listened to guided meditation. My daughter woke up while I was praying and she hurriedly kissed, hugged, and greeted me. My husband also came in and kissed and greeted me.

We prayed as a family, thanking the Lord for this wonderful and special day and for all His blessings.

After praying, I asked them to give me a birthday message. They both said something short, but my daughter said she’s preparing a birthday present for me.

And she surprised me with this.

Aww, I love you so much, Macey!

I also asked them these 3 questions:

  • How can I improve as a wife, as a mom, and as a person?
  • Will you forgive me for all my mistakes and shortcomings?
  • What do you want me to be and to do moving forward?

Asking these questions was not easy. I’ve been meaning to ask them about these in the past, but I didn’t have the courage to do so.

Today, God gave me enough courage and humility to finally ask them. I told them I won’t feel bad if they say something negative about me as long as they are honest.

And I’m glad they answered the questions sincerely and honestly.

After that, at around 6 AM, I went to the garden outside to check and water the plants. I also planted a few okra seeds. Then, I went to our garden upstairs and did my muni-muni session. 🙂

I reflected on what my family told me and I prayed about it. I thanked God for their honesty and for the opportunity to improve myself and be a better person, wife, and mom.

Then, I read the bible and my daily devotional book which reminded me to not worry about anything, but instead, trust God for He loves me and He knows everything about me.

We have fixed number of days to live. Let us do our best every day and leave tomorrow in God’s hands.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34

Since the weather is extremely hot today (just like yesterday) and I was sweating anyway, I decided to just work out from 7 AM to  8:30 AM while I listened to worship songs, faith messages, motivational audios, and birthday meditation. I felt really good after working out and feeding my mind and spirit.

I went downstairs and saw the most wonderful women in my life (my daughter, my mama, and my mother-in-law) having breakfast in the garden. They greeted me and I kissed each one of them. I’m so blessed to have these beautiful people in my life.

Birthday Surprises

Surprise Conti’s Cake from my Brother

When I opened the fridge, I saw a Mango Bravo cake from Conti’s. Mama told me that my eldest brother came and gave the cake while I was in the shower. Oh, how sweet of my brother. 🙂

And they were supposed to give it to me later, but I saw it! haha.

Surprise Gift from Dad

On May 3, my husband surprised me with a new Epson Printer. Yay! I’m so happy! 🙂

He noticed that I manually make and write Macey’s worksheets that’s why he ordered a printer for us. And now that we have a new printer, it’ll be easier to print worksheets and other learning materials while we’re on ECQ.

Surprise Food for Frontliners

Days before my birthday, I told Dad of my plan to prepare some food for the frontliners in our area.

On Sunday, while I was taking a nap with Macey, Dad cooked sisig, fried chicken, and pancit with the help of my in-laws’ kasambahay. When they were done, he woke me up and told me to prepare and give the food to the frontliners.

I am so blessed to have a super supportive husband. Thank you, Dad!

Surprise Handa from my In-Laws

While I was talking to my sister-in-law, nadulas sya na may niluluto sila for my birthday. haha!

Surprise pala dapat yun. So kunwari na lang di ko pa alam kasi baka magalit daw si mommy. 🙂 Kaya pala I smell something fishy. 🙂 Busy pala silang lahat sa kusina.

Nakakataba naman ng puso. They cooked kare-kare, lumpiang shanghai, and maja blanca.

Btw, we had an early celebration last Sunday that’s why we didn’t cook a lot today. Besides, we don’t have visitors and I didn’t really intend to have a party. I’m more than grateful that I’m with my family and we are safe and healthy.

Pizza and Videoke

My husband craved for pizza, so we went to Domino’s Pizza near our place and ordered some for the family. Then, we went to the grocery to buy some stuff and got home at around 5 PM.

We set up videoke at the garden and we enjoyed singing with the family until 9 PM.

That was a simple celebration, but nothing beats staying home with the family, and knowing that God has blessed me so much in the past 33 years of my life. I’m looking forward to what God has in store for me this year and the years ahead, according to His will.

Let me end this birthday post with these bible verses from James, Chapter 4.

Boasting About Tomorrow

13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”

14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

When I celebrate my birthday, I always make sure to find time to reflect and assess how my life has been.

I also set goals and make plans for my future, but I surrender it to God who knows everything about my life – my past, my present, and my future. And I wait and trust for His will to be done.

Thank you Lord for my birthday. To God be all the glory.
