Are you planning to continue your Pag-IBIG Fund contribution?
In this blog post, I’ll share with you my personal experience on the following transactions with the Pag-IBIG Fund this 2021:
- How to Change Pag-IBIG Fund membership category from Employed to Voluntary
- How to Update Pag-IBIG information including:
- Single to Married Marital Status
- Maiden Name to Married Name
- How to Continue Pag-IBIG contribution MP1 after 7 years of no contributions
- How to Apply for Pag-IBIG MP2 Savings
- How to Apply for Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card
But before that, let me share with you a short background…
I used to work in a BPO company as a Trainer from 2007 to 2014. During those years, the company took care of all my contributions for the Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG Fund through salary deductions.
When I resigned in May 2014, I continued paying my SSS and PhilHealth premiums as a voluntary member, but not with Pag-IBIG Fund.
Actually, I tried going to Pag-IBIG office three times during the past 7 years to update my information and contribution but I always ended up going home before my queue number was called because I didn’t have the patience to wait in long lines. I felt like it was a waste of time. (I wished I’ve been more patient).
But this year, I set an intention to finally update my Pag-IBIG membership and start paying my Pag-IBIG contributions again. No more excuses!
Here’s how I did it…
Submit Pag-IBIG MCIF and Requirements
I went to Pag-IBIG branch at Spark Place Cubao on January 26 (Tuesday) at around 2PM. As expected, there were so many people waiting in line. I waited for an hour but the line barely moved, so I decided to go to the Pag-IBIG Fund kiosk in Ali Mall Cubao.
Surprisingly, there was no line at all at around 4PM so I immediately inquired about updating my membership information and continuing my pag-IBIG contributions.
The officer told me to fill out the MCIF and submit it together with the requirements including photocopies of my 2 valid IDs and Marriage Certificate. She also checked the original copy of my requirements.
Click here to download the Pag-IBIG MCIF or Member’s Change of Information Form. Make sure you fill out the latest form (V07, 10/2020).
Check the requirements below to change your information with the Pag IBIG Fund.
Since I already downloaded and filled out the MCIF at home and I already had my IDs photocopied, she immediately checked them and told me to put them inside the dropbox.
She told me that it will take 3 business days to update my Pag-IBIG membership category and information, and she advised me to go back to the Pag-IBIG office at Spark Place Cubao after 3 days to verify if my Pag-IBIG membership information has been updated so that I can pay my first contribution as a voluntary member.
I also requested for a copy of my Pag IBIG contributions which she printed immediately.
Verify Pag-IBIG Membership Information
I went to Pag-IBIG branch at Spark Place Cubao on January 29 (Friday) at 9AM. I waited in line for about an hour before I went inside the Pag-IBIG office.
I went straight to the Information desk and told the officer about my concerns:
- To verify if my membership category and information are already updated;
- To pay my first contribution as a voluntary member;
- To open Pag-IBIG MP2 savings account; and
- To apply for Pag-IBIG Loyalty card
He gave me two Queue numbers: one for payments and another one for loyalty card application.
He asked me if I have paid any contribution before and I said, “YES, when I was still employed.”
But I guess he missed the last part because he gave me the wrong queue number. Instead of continuing membership, he gave me the queue number for “Payments”. I waited for almost an hour at the payments queue only to find out that I was in the wrong queue.
The officer referred me to the “Continuing” queue and gave me another number. I waited for another hour before I finally had my Pag-IBIG membership information verified.
I filled out the MP2 Savings application form, submitted a photocopy of my valid ID, and after the verification process, he told me that I can now start paying my Pag-IBIG contributions and savings as a Voluntary Member.
Pay Pag-IBIG Contribution as Voluntary Member
I went to the “Payments” window, waited for about 20 minutes, and paid my Pag-IBIG contributions as Voluntary Member and Pag-IBIG MP2 Savings.
I paid my Pag-IBIG MP1 contributions for the whole year – P200/month x 12 = P2,400; and I paid P500 for my first MP2 Savings.
After that, I went back to the “Continuing” officer and handed him my payment receipts. After checking the receipts, he told me that my Pag-IBIG contributions are now updated.
He then referred me to the “Loyalty Card Application” queue. I waited for another 30 minutes on that queue, filled out the Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card application form, presented my valid IDs, paid P125 for the card, had my photo taken, and finally, I got my new Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card powered by Unionbank.
Finally Done After 3 hours
I finished all my transactions at the Pag-IBIG branch in 3 hours. I could have finished earlier had I gone to the right queue right away, but it’s okay. Lesson learned: make sure to explain the purpose of your transaction to the information officer as clearly as possible so that he can give you the right queue number.
If you are paying your Pag-IBIG contribution for the first time as a voluntary member, tell the information officer exactly that. He should give you the queue number for the “Continuing” queue, not the “Payments” queue.
They need to verify first if all your information are updated before you can pay your contributions.
Don’t be ashamed to ask the guard or the information officer if you have any question or clarification. It will save you a lot of time.
I hope this helps. Feel free to share your experience updating your Pag-IBIG membership in the comments below. 🙂
Hi Ms. Janice,
I did a stupid thing last week and decided to pay my Pag-Ibig contributions online thru GCash for the months of April, May and June WITHOUT filling out the MCIF form. I just checked my Pag Ibig online today and payments were already posted. However my Membership Category is still Employed.
I am no longer employed since March 2021 and currently looking for a new job. I decided to use my savings to pay my contributions online for the meantime.
Do you know the requirements for changing the Member Category from Employed to Voluntary (Unemployed)? I tried to search it but I got confusing results.
Appreciate your response.
Thank you po.
MCIF form and photocopy of 1 valid id
I just did the same mistake! How’s your status atm?
If you don’t change your membership category from employed to voluntary, will this affect anything? I need your thoughts on this. Thank you.
Hi. If i change my membership from employed to self employed kailangan po bang bayaran yung mga months na hindi ako nakapagcontribute?
hindi na pwedeng bayaran ung previous months.
